The Portfolio 1978 to 2010
Preface
In putting together this portfolio of my photographs a dual theme started to coalesce, my love for nature and my love for classical music. Some of the photographers and artists that have influenced me are Edward Weston, Paul Strand, Alfred Stieglitz, Ansel Adams and Georgia O’Keefe and many others. As with many of these artists, one huge influence and inspiration in my life has been classical music. I longed to create the feeling of ecstasy and a myriad of other emotions in my photographs similar to feeling I get while listening to classical music, so each chapter has a musical title and a theme that is developed or expanded on. The composers that influenced my photography are Copland, Bach, Beethoven, Varèse, Tárrega, Rodrigo, Mahler, Satie, Debussy, Ravel, Rachmaninoff, Lutosławski, Ligeti, Barber, Randell Thompson, Roy Harris, and many others.
All photographs have been copyrighted by the United States of America Copyright Office. Use of my photographs without permission is forbidden. The copyright mark on the photographs will not appear on the print. The prints will be sharper than what is displayed on the screen. Each print is a limited edition. Each photograph will be limited to a total run of 10 to 40 prints depending on how many sizes are available of each photograph.
Framing Recommendation: I recommend using a black frame with a white acid free cotton rag matte board with an opening that has 3 inches of white space between the photograph edge and the frame all the way around.
